Can I change the Ride Type on my Edge Explore 2?
It has 3 profiles which I can rename, I understand other Garmin's have more and they can be added / deleted but the Explore is limited to the fixed 3.
There are Off Road, On Road and Indoor. Indoor is no use to me, can I change it to Off Road too?
If I can't change it will it still do the same job but just show up as the wrong thing when it syncs with Connect?
Cheers 🙂
Just found the same issue. Bought for the bigger screen, thinking that I could repurpose the indoor setting as you can with some of their fancier devices. Seems that not.
I renamed the Off-Road to MTB on the device but it uploads to Strava as Gravel ride. I don't think I can over ride that so I just edit it in Strava.

You can set Activity Fix to automatically change any Gravel ride to Mountain Bike in Strava
IIRC, you can rename the activity profiles if you want.
Also but I can't test now, I seem to remember that Indoor Rides don't capture GPS data, so it's bloody useless as an activity profile, no matter what you rename it as...
The 3 profiles thing is a limit imposed by Garmin presumably to mark the Explore down as a budget unit and encourage folk towards the more pricey units. It's a real shame though. People have been hoping the limit would be removed for years, so I assume now that we're stuck with it (unless there's a clever Connect IQ author out there who can hack it).

You can and the profile colour too, but that's it sadly (the ride type seems to be permanently stuck as 'Indoor'). Go to settings > activity profiles then select the profile then the 3 dot menu (top right).
The indoor profile functions as a full profile though. By default GPS is off but you can turn it back on and fully configure everything else. I suspect that that once it's synced it'll need editing in Connect itself to remove references to Indoors (as above, the ride type isn't editable).
