Hi I'm thinking about getting a Edge but I really would like to know if there is some way of cross referencing the GPS location with a normalOS map? can you see a map grid reference on the unit?

With the 705 you can use Open Source Maps to build a contoured map of the UK, which will help.

Yes you can. All of them can (IIRC) - even the models that say they can't (the 205 IIRC) - you just create a waypoint at the current location and check properties.

Been thinking of getting the 500 and checking out the manual online at the garmin website. The one for the 705 might tell you what you need to know.

I have my 705 right in front of me and I can assure you it has a 12-digit OS grid ref on it.

Can anyone prove (with a pic) that the 605 or 705 can give you a os grid reference for checking on a real map??
