My Garmin Edge 520 maps don't seem to align with the GPS position. I have tried googling but I cant seem to get the right googlefu to give me the answer. I assume I need to do some sort of calibration. As an example if I am riding along an A-Road the maps show me riding parallel with the A-Road but about 10m to the left of it. This means that turns either come up 10 metres early or late. I can live with it but it is frustrating.
Anyone able to help with how to resolve it?
I've noticed that if I do a gpx route to follow using OS 1:50K I get this, if I use 1:25K I dont. The maps I have on my 520 are based on openstreetmap further confusing things.
I just live with it, is only when going north / south I think. My Guess would be its something to do with the projection of the map data
It's something to do with the projection, the earth isn't spherical so each mapping agency projects their maps onto an imaginary sphere that kinda fits the planets shape best where they are. I'm sure I remember doing it when I first got my 800.
it will be an OS mapping issue. The OSM mapping is pretty dire at times.
