[Closed] Garmin Edge 25 not getting signal

I have an Edge 25 permanently attached to my commuter that a couple of days ago took a number of minutes to pick up a signal. This morning, however, it could not get a fix on the satellites at all.

The skies were clear, I was standing still in an open area (no interference), and I have regularly locked on from that position before.

Any ideas as to why this might be the case?

I had the same happen with mine, Gamrin said to try a hard reset - I think you hold 2 buttons to turn it on then release one after it beeps - that didn’t work for me so Garmin replaced it in the end.

When I was trying to use a Sony Smar****ch 3 to record my rides last spring, I discovered through some googling that it was far quicker at getting a GPS lock if I set off, either starting the recording once I saw the lock was there or simply starting the recording from the get-go and knowing it would miss the first couple of minutes.

Some days it would drive me crazy before I found out about this lesser known crucial bit of info, I had days when I would be standing around like a lemon for up to 10 minutes, waiting for a GPS lock!

Unfortunately the edge 25 won't start without a GPS lock, pressing start just gets a "wait for GPS" message.

I've had to wait a couple of minutes before but its always gotten a lock eventually, I have set off and just pressed start after half a mile before (assuming I remember) the OPs issue sounds more significant... Did the reset work?

One other thought, do you have glonass turned on or off?

I turn it off as apparently it affects battery life, but having it on should help with GPS lock time...

simply starting the recording from the get-go and knowing it would miss the first couple of minutes.

You can’t do that with an Edge 25.

I had the same problem for a couple of rides a few weeks ago. The first time it took about 45 minutes before it found a signal. (Turned on and off three times and then I ignored it for a while.) The next few rides it found the signal instantly.

My Edge 1000 refused to find signal one morning.  I plugged it into my laptop where it said there was an update waiting.  Updated it and it went back to finding signal almost immediately.  Don't know if this will work for an Edge 25 but might be worth a try.

I've had a similar problem with mine over the last 3months ish, to the point where i just used my phone. The latest update seems to have cured it though as per Mister P above.
