It started happening when I connected this device to Chromebook (normally I'd use a normal PC). I managed to upload the ride with no problem, then I left it plugged in for some time to charge. On the next ride I noticed that the Garmin had all the sounds on (I had all the "beeps" disabled before), which was weird. Going into settings and all the "user's profile" data was reset too.
Never mind, the device worked as it should, until I wanted to upload the data. Simply - no rides recorded. Nothing in the history. I had few "courses" on the Garmin, which still displayed, but no rides at all! During an investigation I found that the recent rides were saved in the device's main folder (not in the "activities" one), but now even they have gone...
After completing the ride, when hitting the "save" button on Garmin and going to "history" this ride is visible there - until I shut the device down. Turning it back on again - no rides at all...
The memory is about 85% free. Is there any fix other than "buy a new one"?
Probably the internal storage chip is borked... no way to fix that. You could try a hard reset (hold the power button for 15 seconds).
Just to make things more interesting... Plugging it in Chromebook - the rides are there!!! But not in the "activities" folder, but the main one...

EDIT: FIXED!!! I deleted the "activities" folder from Garmin. It then created a new one (the same name) but it works now! I copied some old FIT files onto it and I can see them under "history".
