I've recently got one, previously been using the 500.

Looks and size are better but thats about it.

A few gripes:

1) don't appear to delete all old rides in 1 go, have to go into each one

2) Battery doesn't show as a percentage, just 4 bars, so does 1 bar mean 25% or 49%

Like mine, simple to use gives accurate stats. Does everything I need as don’t need mapping.

Quite fancy a new Garmin but I don't know whether to go for this at £140, a Edge 820 for £170(reduced at halfords so I can get another £17 off that) or stump up for the new Edge 530(I have a voucher I could use at evens to get that down to £190)?

I've been running one since January. Had been running an Edge 200 for years before that which is basically an earlier model. I upgraded mainly for auto Bluetooth upload. I like the simplicity of these units over the 500/800 series. If you need to navigate you can plot a route on Strava, Bike Hike, etc and upload it. If you add way points on Bike Hike it will give you direction indicators a set distance before junctions. We've been lost following my mates fancy 800 with OS mapping more than we've been lost following my simple breadcrumb trails.

The battery life is good but nowhere near as good as the old Edge 200. I once got 17 hours out of that on Wales in a Day. I suspect the new one will last 10-12 hours tops. Maybe more if strava segments and notification are turned off.

From what I can tell so far, it's fairly solid and reliable whereas the 500/800 series are prone to malfunction based on several mates having to make warranty returns.

Always check DC Rainmaker first.

And check the comments on DC Rainmaker's review. Seems to be some mixed experiences of battery life, much shorter than claimed.

Yeah I noticed that sounds like the battery life is almost halved simply by using sensors...

I like everything about it except
- the battery life (12+ hours easy but why couldn't it have been 24 or even 36 hours so you didnt need to charge it after every ride?)
- the altimeter. barometric much worse than GPS in real world use as you need to calibrate it. mine currently tells me i'm 100m below sea level. WTF doesnt it auto calibrate of gps when it gets a fix?

Is the 130 functionally equivalent to the old Edge 510? My 510 is 4 years old and I keep expecting it will need replacing soon but it doesn't seem ready to depart this world just yet!

Enjoying using mine.
Screen is clear and works in the rain, 820 with touchscreen isn’t quite as good in sun or rain.

Thinking about the comments, the battery indicator on mine is all over the place, turning it on after a full charge may only give 2 blobs sometimes. but I have done 3x 30miles rides on separate days with segments, HR and cadence sensors connected without running out of power.

Well I went ahead and bought one. Used it for the first time yesterday.
Great sharp screen, nice compact size. Easy enough to set up, but after a two hour ride, battery was showing 50% left.
Now reading on line after 3.30 firmware update, the battery indicator is all over the place. One guy said he had a low battery warning come up, but still managed three more hours of riding, so I’ve no idea how long this battery lasts at the moment.
