Can you set the 1000 to sound an alert at a certain point on a pre made offroad route? (Cuesheet?)
E.g. there is a fork in the trail and I need the unit to alert me so I choose the correct way.
I can do this on my 800 on routes made with ridewithgps.

Yes it will alert you to route points - it gives you an audible warning and visual countdown.
I use Garmin Connect or Bikehike which adds the turns either automatically or where you tell it.
