What's the advantages of using a garmin and uploading it to strava than using a mobile??
Does the garmin show you when segments start/end etc?
Is the edge 25 any good? Thanks for any help
Some models notify you of favourites strava segments if you're a premium member. And they can show you how well you're doing on that segment. You would need edge 520 or above for that though
The main advantage of the Garmin would be battery life. Just depends how long your rides are.
Umm surely main advantage is having something robust mounted out front where you can see the data. Unless I guess if you mount your phone on the bars.
Quicker/better satellite pick up.
Battery dedicated to one thing, not being a phone as well.
If the right level, links to your phone anyway, indicating important calls.
Add on HRM, power, cadence.
Better touch screen for use with gloves.
Better weather protection, as in fully waterproof. Touchscreen still works in the pouring rain.
Don't forget the excitement every the time the software updates...
Will it still work or won't it?
What everyone above has said.
My Edge 25 is a toy, compact, lasts hours longer than my iPhone 6S, is a doddle to use and no spoke or crank magnets.
It's great to see ride data but I don't need power info yet, I just enjoying riding and seeing ride info.
Got mine from Aldi £79.99 and without the speed or cadence sensor. Still picks up signal super quick and sensitive.
Added the other sensors £20-40 Amazon specials etc.
Short 1 hr blast - quad lock+phone.
2+ hrs then a dedicated bike computer.
Battery life and bike mounting without worrying about getting it wet and/or muddy.
