I'm having yet another issue with my gamin 800, it suddenly changed the top two boxes on the front page from MPH and speed to 'Cadence', which is no use as i have no sensor, how the hell do i turn this back to showing the speed, or anything else that might be useful, i've searched the screens but can't find anything?

As for the 800, anyone else find this thing hopeless in the long run, always failing and needing hard resets, struggle to get a signal in any woods, takes an age to get satellites and just crap overall?

Menu --> Spanner key (bottom right) --> Bike Settings --> Training Pages -- Timer Pages. Page 1 is on by default, pages 2 & 3 can be turned on/off at will. Press the page you want to add/remove fields from then you'll be given the option of inceasing the number of fields. When happy with the number, press the grren tick, then the field you want to change, then a field category then another sub menu with the data you want.

Tons more here - https://www.google.co.uk/#q=changing+screen+on+garmin+800

You can just press (for a couple of seconds) on the "box" you want to change, and a menu comes up.

Cheers for the info, for some reason it resets to this, as well as the map reverting to rotating instead of being set north, t's getting annoying now as i hate the map rotating!

Hi argee,

For your map orientation press:-

"Menu" --> "spanner" button at bottom --> "System" -->

"Map" --> then "Orientation" this gives you the map options for "North up, Track up, or Automotive mode"

Hope this helps.

Cheers, i've found that before as it annoyed me a lot more than having useless readings on the main screen, but for some reason it keeps resetting and going back to the track up mode, which i really really hate, i'm a map reader at heart i guess.

I'd recommend the Scarlet Fire blog for handy tips for setting up the Garmin 800.

What @gab344 said.

A slight hijack from me - apologies. Whenever the firmware gets upgraded, all my settings (customized screens, etc) get blown away. Anyone know how to retain those settings between firmware updates? Not a regular occurrence, but often enough to be highly annoying.

No, mine's brilliant, works perfectly and gets very well used.
