Seems like Garmin doesn't want you to navigate with it's navigation device.
The map view navigation is useless showing absolutely no detail.
Their forum is not accessible from Europe, can't ready any forum threads without using a blood VPN!
Installing apps at first didn't work, they're just queued forever. Strava routes app did install, but you can't sign in due to some google error and hence can't sign in with any other method.
Ride with GPS can send routes I think, but it's £6 pr month.
Looking into using osmand to download .gpx maps and send to the device, bit clunky but ok for occasional use.
Have you loaded the maps for your region? Here's how -
Just tried looking at the Garmin forums and no problem (I'm UK based)
Did have some problem installing an app but can't remember what it was now, probably a queuing error. not a difficult workaround from memory. Sorry, can't help more with that.
I just plug the unit into my desktop and it appears as a drive so just copy routes over. I've got to charge it anyway so it's not a big problem and just works.
Ok figured it out
1. Download the free osmand android app and download the maps for your region in the app
2. Make a route and save it as a .gpx, saves in: android/data/data/net.osmand.plus/files/osmand/osmand/tracks
3. Using a file explorer (make a shortcut to the folder!) open the gpx file and send to garmin connect.
4. Select the course on your garmin unit and off you go.
