I got an update on my garmin a couple of weeks ago. since then I've been unable to turn off the off course navigation. The thick purple line and big white arrow that redirects you if you go off course.
It's really annoying and I would like to disable it again. Any ideas how, I've gone through all the menus and nothing suggests it should be on? Activity profiles and course settings both have it off.
Navigating off road particularly the maps aren't that accurate on the moors so I'm always off course a little as the path on the ground differs to the map. I used to just follow the line over the map and make my own corrections. Now I have a big arrow that obscures everything at the point when I really need it.
From what I can find online this is a bug. Factory reset is suggests but that is a a bit annoying. Some people have resorted to returning their units to Garmin!
Garmin software is notoriously crap, but I've not encountered this problem on mine. Have you tried turning the off course notifications on and then off again?
As a bodge you can pick the course you want to follow and in its settings set it to "show on map". You don't get a big thick purple line to follow but you will see it overlaid on the map screen.
