I'm moving house shortly and as the new place has no garage/shed/outbuilding I'm going to get a wooden garden workshop shed to act as a bike store and workshop.
Current thoughts are a 12x8 log-cabin shed on a concrete slab base. This seems to fit the bill
Thoughts;
- No windows, so will hopefully be fairly secure
- Decent size and will accommodate workbench, tools, bikes, shelves, etc.
- Will fit a solar panel, leisure battery and invertor to provide power
- Will fit good internal lighting, for working on bike
- will fit an external security light that comes on when someone walks near to shed
- will fit an alarm with GSM phone, so a siren will sound and I will also get a text message if someone breaks in
- Will use a steel rope and security padlock to secure all bikes to a ground bolt anchor
- will have insurance should someone break in
Accepting that someone who is really determined, will probably be able to gain access - any thoughts from the STW masses on how to make the best 'man-cave and bike workshop' both from a security and a usability/enjoyment angle?
Thanks.
