Hi - anyone got a simple wireless alarm system for their garage?
something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kasp-610-Wireless-Garden-Alarm/dp/B002JCTR1K/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&s=diy&qid=1280069211&sr=8-21
Or is it cheap for a reason - and I'd be better off getting something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yale-wirefree-Premium-Alarm-HSA6400/dp/B002D38J8C/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&s=miscellaneous&qid=1280069211&sr=8-17
This is to work at night, when people are sleeping, to wake them up if someone is up to no good. I don't need it to call my mobile etc.
Needs to be simple to arm / disarm (unless you're a thief!) - needs to go off when it's armed, and not when it's not!
It bought a cheap wired one for the shed (£15 I think). unit is in the house with a long run of cable down to the shed. I've had no end of problems with wireless door bells over the years and don't want to find out that the shed alarm isn't working the first time I need it to. If some cuts the wire the thing goes off.
We put a proper alarm box in the garage with a sensor aimed at the door and a LOUD siren if it goes off. Wouldnt want to be in it long with rhe siren ringing
Worth doing it right first time

If it's just for your garage you might as well get a hardwired one as it won't be hard to run cables.
Something like this:
Our company used to fit a lot of Scantronic Panels to domestics. I gotta be honest I'm not particularly familiar with them, but the connections, and programming are dead simple.
I've had 2 garages done. Both times into the house systems and then set up as zones so they can be set without the bedrooms / rest of the house being set.
Pretty cheap to do if you've got a house alarm.
I've also used a baby monitor so that any activity / noise would wake me up
