Received my gamut dual ring chain guide today for my five. I fitted the guide/backplate in place of a bb spacer on the drive side however even with the roller wheel adjusted all the way in I couldn't get it to run nice a smooth...the chain kept catching on the higher step of the roller and making horrible noises!
I measure the thickness of the backplate and found it to be 1.7mm thick...the shimano spacers are 2.5mm thick. Luckily I have some thinner shimano bb spacers although combined with the backplate it measures 3.5mm of spacing. With this extra spacer everything seems to run smoothly, i still have to have the roller wheel adjusted all the way over but everything works!
Could this extra spacing have a detrimental affect on my drive train/bb etc such as increased wear etc etc?
Has anyone else fitted a gamut dual chain guide to a five or any other frame and found this? I had the same problems with a blackspire stinger i attempted to fit but an e-13 works ok 😕
Sorry for the essay!
