I'm going to Galloway with some friends over New Year and we might go and look at Kirroughtree or Glentrool. One of the team rides a handbike. Could someone who knows the area suggest suitable routes, please? Green or blue? She's not averse to an adventure but won't want to get stuck on singletrack that's too narrow for the back wheels, off-camber or busy with Stravaa heros.
I have zero experience with handbikes, and don't really know what to look out for, but I think the blue at Kirroughtree might be might be too narrow and tight in places.
Most of the forrests are shut from storm damage.
I'd message the brake pad bike shop on FB n they'll help.
There's loads of fire roads. Glentrool I'd say would be better. There's less traffic and better views
As above - most of the forests here are still shut from storm damage; the priority seems to have been on clearing the fire roads and Red mob routes (going by Ae & Mabie at least) - which I suspect will be narrow on a hand bike?
I know what I got around with the Burley trailer on if that’s any help - and it was mainly Greens and some blues.
There's also some excellent quiet roads that are fantastic on a bike depending where you stay

Thanks. I'd seen that the Forestry say Glentrool is now cleared except The Big Country, and had thought that applied elsewhere, but I rechecked followed your comment and Kirroughtree is still all closed. So I think we'll be going to Glentrool.

Thanks. Staying next to Luce Bay, but I think we'll be happier off road.
