You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
afternoon,
I've recently moved up to the Fylde coast (Poulton Le Fylde, if you know it) and need to find my self a local riding spot since my usual Welsh go-to is now an extra hour or more drive.
Trough of Bowland isn't a million miles away but too far to consider local.
Any ideas?
Cheers
South lakes is easiest from there
Have friends in Poulton and Blackpool. The nearest area with hills is the edge of Forest of Bowland. They go walking from Scorton (Grizedale Lea, Nicky Nook area).
MTB or Road ? MTB you've got Gizburn, or Trough area, although I don't know that. My mate moved up about 18 months ago to Ankersholme. Much of his riding is now road, as the MTB availability needs travel. Moved from Manchester.
PS Poulton is good for a night out - you've a cracking little Thai restaurant tucked away just off the high street !
Booths and Back?
Theres nothing.
Trough has very limited riding
You could drive to Rivington
Longridge via the backroads is not too far, any further and it's quicker up to the Lakes. There's Farleton Knott near Lancaster where there's bits and bobs and a short ride from Kirby Lonsdale around Barbon. A little further and you can get to Clapham in the Dales via Bentham reasonably quickly.
Join the Lancashire Cycle Link group on Facebook if you're interested in road.
Otherwise, the MTB side has been covered above.
I live near the hospital. R u MTB or road?
Road there's endless flat backlanes between Lytham at the bottom and Over Wyre at the top. Get to garstang and it gets hillier and not too far you're into Bowland.
MTB there's nothing. Rivington is probably the nearest that's worth the drive, then South lakes, Gisburn, Lee quarry all an hour away. Deeper Lakes 90 mins, North Wales, dales etc 2hrs.
You can get on a train at poulton with your bike and be at Hebden in 1hr10, thats well worth a day and much easier than driving.
If you find anything nearer let me know!
