after some deliberation looking at doing a small 4 day ish road tour with the family youngest is 12 in may
Startng at or near perth and heading to kincraig to stay with friends one night.
Any good route suggestions for there and or back, the ncn seems to go straight up the a9!! probably take 2 days to get to kincraig or possibly 1 longer day if we start a bit north of perth.
suggestions of routes and or cabins/accomodation very welcome

The NCN is never actually on the A9. It uses a mixture of quiet roads, tracks and purpose-built cycle track.
There are various off-road alternatives but these will depend upon the bikes, the ability of the riders and the load carried. Give me some idea of those factors and I'll suggest a couple.
Accommodation is sparse. If you are planning two days then look at Blair Atholl for the night.
@scotroutes thanks all on road bikes that can take 28mm tyres at least, if the route u p the a9 is on quiet roads then thats fine, maybe looking for a trp off west fo teh a9 on way back down. HAppy to either set off from perth or drive 15-20 miles up to make a trip up to kinguisse around 40-45 miles for teh first day
Yeah, you'll be fine on 28mm tyres.
There's a wee alternative you can take between Pitlochry and Blair Atholl that takes you even further away from traffic. Follow NCN7 to Killiecrankie, then cross the river to take the wee road on the other side. That takes you all the way to a quarry access road and a wee footbridge back over the river to Blair.

Personally, I'd not be taking a road bike with 28mm tyres through the Gaick - even assuming that the rivers are all passable.
Another mild off-road option is up along the viaduct from Dalwhinnie, Loch Cuaich, Phones Lodge and Ruthven Barracks. The Speyside Way now runs all the way from Ruthven to Aviemore too so it's an easy job to get to Kincraig by just following the signs (or stay on the road and cut off NCN7 at Loch Insh.
