Does anybody know if it is possible to get funding or a grant towards te cost become a qualified mtb coach e.g Level 2 MTB Leadership award

yes there is loads of info on the British Cycling website. When you say "coach" do you want to coach? you have to start with the generic cycle coaching then progress to a specialism. This is exactly what I have just done the weekend just gone. Lots of links on local sport websites so google "Go Active Norfolk" or whatever county you're in and this will assist you more. Tons of stuff online though.
