Thinking of getting a Full susser but don't really have much clue about what's good and whats not, been 4 or 5 years since I last rode FS.

After a little look on-line Im Thinking about getting a 2010 Spicy 314, any thought or opinions ? Does anyone have any idea as to when the 2011 bikes are going to be released ?

The bike is coming through an insurance claim so I have to use Wheelies direct, they do stock quite a few brands though.

Test ride everything they have in your size, then decide/come back and ask. What sort of riding do you want it for?

Ooops, I meant Zesty not Spicy !

Can't really test ride anything from wheelies as to far away and time is tight at the moment.

Riding wise nothing to heavy, mix of local singletrack (flat)and a few trail centres when I get the chance.

Very much liking my Zesty 314. Good luck finding one in stock though.

Managed to pick mine up with a bit of discount so a few hundred under £2K.

No complaints but planned changes are:

1. bolt through fork + front wheel

2. slidey seatpost

err.. that's it.

+1 for Zesty - 714 here. I demoed a Stumpy and liked it a lot. It was the bike I was going to buy. But TBH I thought that the ride was a little dull. Its a very safe bike to ride. One you can throw your leg over and ride well. But then I rode a Zesty and it was like chalk and cheese. The Zesty is a far more engaging ride. Relentlessly fast. Demands to be ridden to the limit. When you look at the stumpy and Zesty frame geometry you will realize they are very similar except the Zesty chain stay length is longer meaning it is more stable down hill. Therefore faster and just more WOW factor all round. As I said there is nothing wrong with Stumpy.

I had an insurance payout a few years ago,was supposed to buy from Wheelies, but they couldn't supply what I wanted,so spoke to the insureers, who sent me a cheque to sort out my own bike.Might be worth deciding what you want, then if Wheelis can't do it,ring your insureers.

P.S This looks a good buy

Details emerged yesterday of the 2011 Spiceys so I'd try and hold on a bit to see what's in store for the 2011 Zestys if you can. I think last year the new models were available in August.

Wheelies can supply what I want except for one of the frames, but they have offered me a frame valued at £500 more so can't really complain.

Cheers, Jason

Agree with comments above about Zesty. Great bike, has made me faster. One cheeky mate even thought I'd been having secret skills lessons!

Also agree with Timmys though, hold off a week or so and see what changes for 2011. If they'd going to a standard BB then I'd be tempted to wait for one.

Just been informed that the 2011 Lapierre range won't be out until mid to late September ! Not sure I can wait that long 😉

Can well believe it. When I was looking at the tail end of 2009, I wanted to test ride the Stumpjumper/EX8 and Zesty314.

The Stumpy & EX8 were available from mid-October to test & purchase. The only Zesty test bike I could find was in Edinburgh (about a 6 & 1/2hr drive away). Rutland Cycling had a 514 in the shop (to sell, not demo) from about November and said that I could take it round the car park, but no more and they weren't likely to get any test bikes (if they even got any) until well into 2010.

I ditched the Zesty from my shortlist at that point. The Stumpjumper was such a leap forward from my old bike that I was happy to get one of those. My mates were quite suprised how much quicker I was descending on it compared to the old bike, the first time we went out.
I also had concerns about the Crossride wheels on the Zesty 314. A friend bought some for his E-120 and they were cak.

love my new zesty 314, I just went for it because they are getting real low on stock apparently (I got mine from Evans a few weeks ago and they had 3 left in the whole company) plus if I missed the boat and had to wait for the 2011 I would be waiting for months plus it will almost certainly be £200-300 more expensive than the 2010, if the current trend for price increases continue.
