Yes, I know its got deeply unfashionable mudguards, tyres and pedals.
But I don't care.

Its light, quiet and clean, and it fits on a bike which is a hoot to ride. Raison d'etre.

The snubber:? Belts and braces. (see what I did there?)
If it looks like its not being used, I'll take it off.

Cheers Mike.

Wow. Looking at the dates on the pics, I seem to make progress every 6 months. Hadn't realised before.

How are you finding the belt drive ? Is it good with a lot of climbing pressure ? Any slippage

faz083: Rides pretty much like any other A, only quieter. Ooodles of fun. 🙂

redchilli: How d I find it? Long story. Lot of effort to get it to work, had lots of problems with it slipping under load, partially due to shoddy designed Gates snubber 9which is why i designed my own) and partially due to frame flex theough the suspension linkages. That damaged the previous belt enough for it to finally give up the ghost and snap a couple of months ago.
Hopefully all I've learnt about setup, and the fact that Centre-track can cope with misalignment means I won't damage this one, so it won't slip and it won't break 😉

Looks like it needs a proper test in the mud.

So, went out last night with Pukeko in the mud and slop in the local woods.

And it just worked. No slipping, no popping, no breaking (thankfully). It just worked. Quietly and smoothly, with no fears about lube getting washed off 🙂

More to follow. I may yet ride it at Dyfi....

It's a singlespeed, you don't change gear

I love the way this polarizes opinion.

Its worth persevering with just to wind up the naysayers and doom-mongers. 😉

"chain on (98.8 pc efficient)bit of lube"
But isnt that when lubed and without it beihng worn?
So muddy it up and your lubes is gone and wears out so over time you've got a worn dry chain, which is not going to be 98.8% efficient?

I like the look of the mk2 over the mk4. Not sure how much is that its clean and has no mudguards
