So after a week spent hitting the Welsh trail centres and singletrack my gf has decided she needs a full sus in the quiver (btw the fact that she a) used the term quiver and b) wants to add another bike makes me epically happy!)
frame only as I’m going to build it up unless there is a cracking deal…. She’s 5’6” about 65kg and looking for a trail spec f/s frame - 27.5” is a must (due to the number of pairs of wheels I have!) and I’m thinking around the 120-140mm (rear) travel mark - I have two options for forks; 140 and 150mm
riding will be mainly south of England, some trail centres and trips to wales (Afan etc) when I can persuade her!
Im a long term orange fan and the 5 is on the short list but quite pricey frame only.
any recommendations or sale options that anyone has spotted?
Anything in the Bird sale that is suitable? Aether 7 in M (suits 5’6) is available.
The Vitus Escarpe 275 frame is on offer at crc. Full carbon frame I built one up a year ago with 170mm Lyriks and it weighs in at about 30 lbs. It's turned out to be much more capable than I thought it would.
Thanks both - will check them out
Tons of secondhand 27.5 frames about.
You should get a decent new-ish Five for £600-£800.
People will ask more, but won't get it
Modern oranges are really light and brilliant fun to ride.
Bird Aether 7 if it’s in the sale would do a good job. Nice allrounder.
Also CRC were punting out Nukeproof Reactors - if the 27.5” one is going cheap then that is also decent. Think frame only I saw the alloy one for £799 and the carbon one for £999.
Due to my girlfriends imminent new bike we will have a 27.5 medium specialised stumpjumper 2017 frame for sale if you were interested?
The Bird is a good shout - will keep an eye out for a deal on those
I had an Orange 5 and loved it - second hand isn’t a bad shout for that, will do some eBay trawling
@ayjaydoubleyou - thanks but I want to get something a bit newer if I can. Cheers though
