can i convert from part open to full length cable housing on my scott genius front mech or will i run into problems ? any advice appreciated
cheers
You should be fine to run a full length cable from shifter to last cable stop. Either by drilling out existing guides or by getting those m:part cable guide holders

Or hope used to do screw in ones I believe.
Jut dont drill out the last cable stop.
Will improve your shifting in the mud.
You wont run into any problems.
What about the plastic guide under the bb, is there a replacement for that or are they the m-part bits?
Cheers
Is there a cable stop before the mech or does cable run through the plastic bit under the bb and go straight to the mech?
If there is a cable stop before the mech you could just run the cable over the plastic bit straight to the cable stop.
If there is no cable stop before the mech you would have to stop the cable housing at the last stop and run the cable through the existing guide.
it runs housing just to the top of under the downtube then open cable which runs under the bb and back up to the front mech , the only cable stop is at the top end of the downtube, can get pics up later

Heres a good site for spare bits for this
http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/14/cablehose-guides.htm
Couple of options there.
Or this widget may help
http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/17654/Problem_Solvers_Backstop_Cable_Stop_Clamp
But not 100% sure if it replaces a non existant cable stop, if it does briliant.
Hope that helps some

Zip ties normally work fine
