Looking for a bit of a advice while i source out my first full face helmet, So many factors to chuck in safety size style, airflow, weight and most of all style.
Now from the looks of it are some helmets just rebranded as they very similar, long and short im torn between a Troy lee d2 and a Oneal Fury flidlock which has a easy release magnetic strap which i like the look of.
cheers for any pointers
What shape is your head!!
What do you want it for?
Full on DH/Uplift/Gravity Riding?
Enduro with some DH & pedalling?
All of the above?
Some stuff will be re-branded but the bit names will be unique to them
Simple advice is try them on and see what fits as that is the most important feature you need to get right.
If it’s for trail riding I can vouch for the Met Parachute being breathable and pretty cool.
Not the cheapest though if you are not peddaling in the helmet you will get cheaper and stronger.
It’s worth trying them mate. I normally get on well with the Spesh and Giro kids but the FF I found really uncomfortable after trying everything I went with a D2 which I find great and comfortable. So it’s worth trying them as they fit differently with out the adjustable cradle trail lids have.
I’ve also got a Giro Switch blade which is adjustable and fits great so it backs up my own hair brained theory.
Does anyone commute with a full face helmet?
After reading that post from someone who bashed their face on their stem when their rear suspension failed, it got me thinking.

I've seen a few, not sure why though, from a risk assessment point of view you are trying to mitigate a very low risk there, and the suspension failing one is the sort of very low probability event that you may never see again.
With full face helmets on a pushbike style is the only consideration. And as such you need to wear a D2. but do bear in mind a stylish helmet doesn't work if you or the rest of your kit is not upto pulling off the look. Google "Dave Jenvey" for a prime example of how to fail spectacularly at this.
If you feel you need more airflow simply buy an Ebike and de-restrict it.
I fell off recently when my front wheel slipped sideways on some wet stone flags. I landed on my shoulder really hard, was luckily not to break my collar bone and my back was hurting for weeks after.
Worst spill I've had in over a decade when I got hit by a car when going through a junction during a storm.
So it just got me thinking about dangers especially now I am a bit older and don't have a teens resilience.
And on the canal side cycle path I often commute down I've had some close calls recently. It's amazing how some people won't stay left and weave all over the place in a panic.

I think the day I get an ebike will be when I give up on life and put on weight and no longer care.
I'd like to get my hands on an EM burst device which can disable them as they pass me.

Bridgewater? The commuter superhighway full of people who really don't want to get close to the canal!!
Anyway not to derail the thread too much, plenty of choice for the OP if your near a good shop with a DH focus go try some on
http://www.pearcecycles.co.uk/product_list/166
and take some your goggles with you to try them out too
You'll cook alive in a full face commuting. DH only I'd say. I use heavily vented Bell road helmets with peaks to keep me cool on the MTB.
Commuting wise, you are more likely to be knocked of and land on the top of your head. That's happened twice, but the time my head didn't touch the floor, my back was snapped in two.
Can't be long now rydster. your sense of humour has already given up.
Wearing a fullface in traffic reduces your range of vision and hearing and awareness of other road users/hazards considerably

Yeah I ride on the TPT to the bridgewater and take that to Manchester quite a lot.
I notice they put some new and very tight chicanes up around Stretford. I've half a mind to go down with an Oxy-kit late one night... 😀
Yeah I'd say that more than 90% of fellow cyclists know the formal and tactic rules of riding on the path. Keep left FFS. But some don't and as you say cling to the right (when riding South) like their life depends on it
As the OP was daft enough to to explain he will be using this for Morzine and mainly messing abouts in the local stetchy woods , Im happy enough in my A1 for Ardrock stuff and Lakes plays ,I just feel that for the Uplift and woods messing where the risk of chewing a Birch or two is higher something offering a less likely trip to the dentist is needed.
And @ geex
Thank you .. hes like the Karl Pilkington of the Troy Lee world ...
Geex i cant help be compelled to watch more hahaha 😉

He just needs some downhill body armour 😀
I can't actually work out if Dave is serious; or some sort of video based art installation piece
