Don't see many people wearing full faces and sunglasses, any reason why?

If so, what goggles? Been quoted £30 for some oakleys or foxes, which seems reasonable.

I'd say generally you are riding DH with a full face lid so want to protect your eyes from flying debris that can find its way behind sunglasses. Plus DH is usually in and out of the trees so you don't really want any tint.

What lid? Some lids and goggles have a different fit.

Hard to beat Oakley O Frames with clear 'moto' lenses for performance, price and availability of spare lenses and you can pick them up for under £24 on eBay.

I tried my regular riding glasses, it doesn't really work, the wind seems to get caught by the helmet or something so it blows past them at speed. Maybe a tighter fitting pair of glasses would work...

So after ruling out Oakleys based on the assumption they'd be expensive I went shopping for something else, discovered Crowbars are surprisingly cheap, got some of those. And they are fab, also come with a bag and some tearoffs should you be the littering sort.

I wear normal shades or clear glasses with my full face helmet, they just seem to work better for me.

My goggles are cheap-ish Thor ones though, so may not have the best for optical quality/not steaming up.

Fox 'The Main' goggles, designed by oakley, made by fox, or maybe it was the other way around, either way you get oakley gogles for £20 inc bag and tear-offs and I've found no reason to complain about them.

No offence to the legions of better riders than me on here who rock this look, but I've thought for a while that a full face combined with glasses looks a bit "special". Either throw on goggles (preferably chrome tinted ones) or go open face.

But what about wearing goggles with an open face then?

I've seen riders with that 'look', but not done it myself.

I wore full face and (prescription) sunnies for the PdS last year. I didn't die, nor did I get attacked by the "Bella in Sella" police...

It's your face, go for it!

Make sure your goggles fit inside the opening of the helmet - some are wide / bigger than others and will not fit well.

Depends how fast you are/want to look. Mince down with some goggles on and you won't look too cool IMHO.

I have been known to wear goggles with my xen or my piss pot when it is very muddy. I wear contacts and it really hurts when mud gets in there. I probably look like a tool but hey ho.

Ahhhh ya know? I've been looking, for a long time, for some complete stranger to apologise to for my eyesight being so crap I have to wear glasses. Well, it appears that person is you

Back to the OP: Here in the UK I tend to ride without goggles, as they tend to steam up and don't fit too well over my glasses. I rarely have any problems with dirt getting in behind my glasses.

However, when I go to Whistler, I tend to ride with goggles as it gets very dusty, and dust in the eyes when riding down Goats Gully is not a good thing.

Oakley crowbars and fox mains are both good and both made by oakley, i too am guilty of wearing goggles with my xen/fox flux from time to time, i'm sure i look a tit but they work great in crappy conditions on the downs so i'm not too fussed.
