Had a set for 5 months - noticed slight play in rear wheel after less than 700 miles....surely this can't be normal. Anyone have and set and can advise? Should I be contacting Merlin where I got them from?
I've got a set and they're fine, they've done more miles than yours.
They are a doddle to service/adjust, there's a video on YouTube if you Google it.
I had Fulcrum 3's on a previous bike The front developed some play and I just nipped it up, there was pre-load adjustment on the bearings but I can't remember exactly what I did now.
Looks like you undo the tiny allen bolt, turn the cap and retighten...as simple as that?
Fulcrum make bombproof wheels. Can be a nightmare to get spare parts for them though.
Apart from the pawl spring.
One flimsy spring to hold all 3 pawls, fails every winter.
Rascal is spot on - just don't overdue the tightening and all will be well. Check out You tube.
Yes, as Haze comments; if you servicing them, then it's a good idea to check the pawl Spring.
This flimsy little spring once gave me a pretty long walk home ... and put me off Fulcrum wheels for life!
Anybody else notice the rims wear a lot quicker than Mavics too?
Thin rim walls, dodgy springs....how come I never heard all this prior to buying them?
Why are you braking on a road bike??
Aside from the spring I've had good use out of 7's and 5's
Maybe the design is different on the higher models?

The dodgy spring pawl is pretty well known; the thin, or soft, rims walls are just something I seem to have noticed ... but maybe that would explain the black brake coating problem they have on their alu wheels compared to mavic exalith??
Same happened on my 2 month old Quattro's.
Just wound it in and tightened the little bolt - been good since.
Piece of p*ss that was - couldn't have been any easier.
Cheers for the tip 🙂
