Hi
I've pinged a few spokes on my rear fulcrum 3 (road wheel) - last time i replaced and had the wheel trued, but another spoke went within riding a mile or so
so - does this suggest the spokes have been adjusted so many times that they are all weakened and it's new wheel time? the braking surface is fairly worn, they've had a few years use
thanks
Where are the spokes breaking (head/nipple end/middle), and which side?
What state is the wheel in in terms of tension? It is possible to true a wheel to the detriment of it's strength, ie: if it's taken a big knock and the rim is out a bit, you can true it, but only by compromising tension in other areas and actually create the perfect setup for breaking more spokes.
It also depends why the first spokes broke, it could be a result of fatigue (for various reasons) which means other spokes may be similarly fatigued and now breaking.
breaking by the nipple. All the spokes have gone for no real reason - just riding along. I think you are right that they are generally fatigued
My 3 year old racing 7s ping like crazy on and off, have yet to (touch wood) have any spokes snap. They’ve done nearly 10,000 miles so I’ve had my money’s worth!
