Bought an XL2 off eBay, popped it on today.

There was a soft plastic/rubber seal which presumably fits between the lower bearing and the crown race but it was too big. Is lid it down the steerer but it was too big to sit on the crown race. Instead, I put it in the top bearing cover and it just about fit there.

However this means that the lower bearing is uncovered, surely they've got that wrong? I mean if you look up at the lower cup you can see the bearing and race clearly, asking for a gritfest...

Am I missing something or should I google for a new seal?

iirc the lower bearing goes into the lower cup then the plastic seal fits in to a lip on the inside of the lower cup...you have to 'pringle' it to get it in.
