I've got FSA Afterburner cranks; the rings are absolutely knackered after a year of heavy use in Pennine mud (and leaving a chain on far too long ). Before I commit, will either TA Chinook or Middleburn rings go on OK? Not anticipating any problems with the granny, but I've heard stories of the middle/outer not fitting easily despite all being 104mm BCD. Not keen to have to file down chainrings as my mechanical ineptitude is legendary.

As long as they are 104mm BCD they should be fine - I've interchanged chain rings in the past and never had any issue as long as the have the right bolt ratio (i.e. 4/5) and have the correct BCD.
