You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
first off,
- I'm not in the market for a frame currently
- i do know about the 650b+ ( and other sizes if you like) compatibility thread.
so just for my own geekyness, and for purposes wishful thinking/winding myself up, i want to put together a list of frames which fit my criteria, which are:
- must fit B+ wheels/tyres ~2.8" (i have a set which i'd be sticking with)
- 120 - 135mm travel
- be designed for longer travel at the front, (tho final choice would be dependent on fork A-C it's designed around, as it'd be B+ in regular 27.5 fork)
so far, without extensive geeking, i have:
Banshee prime
Cotic FlareMax
Fuel EX after 2017
Stumpy 6fattie
Pivot Switchblade
Santa Cruz hightower ?
what you got?
I think the new Hightower does away with the flip chip and is 29 only. However the Bronson andthe 5010 get a flip chip and can run + tyres now - I'm pretty sure that's what I read anyway.
**EDIT** It looks like they still list the Hightower in the "both" section but don't seem to supply 27.5+ builds now. Having said that they list the Hightower LT in that section and that's 29 only apparently so it could just be a website issue.
Oh, and isn't the tallboy + compatible as well.
Orbea Occam TR
thanks fellas
new Jamis portal looks nice, tho same front and back
Ah strike that, you want to be able to run 29 or B+. No not a Mojo3 then!
I believe for next year the Hightower is unchanged (still 27.5 and 29 compatible), but SC are only offering 29 builds (Im guessing that’s simply because thats what everyone was buying).
Hightower LT was always 29 only... the longer travel link does away with the US compatibility from the regular Hightower
I took a punt on a 2017 NS Snabb+ frame from crc earlier in the year.
Does exactly what you want and I’ve currently got it in 29” mode and 140mm Fox 34 forks up front.
Is a pleasure to ride and geometry wise isn’t too far from bikes 3x the price.
nah alex, it'd almost certainly be B+, i don't have any 29er wheels anyway, was just to include some frame which are a bit older. so you still got your mojo have you?
thanks for all the suggestions so far. much as i'd love to be able to afford a SC, i'd never be able to justify the price tag, even if i had the cash...
thanks for the snabb reccomendation twonks. the 130plus looks on the money, if a little over-built for me (65kg, not a radge), but i think most of these ikes will be since they are gonna be pretty capable.
In the it shouldn’t work but it does category. Vitus escarpe VRX 27.5.
non boost F&F yet the fox fork takes a 2.8” minion on a 45mm scraper rim with lots of room to spare.
frame not quite as generous but got a 2.6” minion on a 23mm wtb rim which still has decent clearance.
Evil Following MB
I sold my Grandma and bought one. Haven't regretted it so far. You can flip the plates in the linkage, will work with 120-140mm forks, my 130mm build with 29"s in "x-low" is an awesome do anything kind of bike.I haven't tried 27+ with 2.8's in "low" yet.
righto the vitus ey?
sounds a bit like what i currently have: a 26" YT wicked which turns out will fit 2.6" 275 on the back on a scraper rim.
but i guess i would like to fit a 2.8" on the back. still, good to know.
the evil i'm sure is great, but falls into the same category as Santa Cruz; i don't have any grandma's left... : )
