Hi everyone

My neighbor in his early 50s is looking to buy a new front suspension MTB. He doesn't want to buy second hand as this bike will hopefully make do him for many years. He won't be doing loads of miles

He will use it mostly for canals, farm tracks and bridleways

Budget is no more than £600. He doesnt want a 29er

Are there any good deals about? Please recommend 😁

He doesnt want a 29er

Why? That would be perfect for what he wants to use it for.

The only reason I can think of not getting a 29er for that is if you have to squeeze it into a small space for storage and the bigger wheels won’t fit!

He doesn't like the feel of the ride.

Voodoo Hoodoo
On budget, Shimano components .. I’d be happy.

Fussy.
There’s a Boardman for £650 ... with more subtle colours. Still think the Voodoo is better!

In terms of a £600 hardtail with 27.5 wheels from that shop, I'd be going for this:

Thanks Stumpy. Wasnt sure about the Tektro brakes, if its worth paying say £50 more for this Scott with Shimano brakes

Yeah, that Scott has Shimano brakes & the fork looks a bit more adjustable. It looks like the fork on the Whyte has no rebound adjust.

I thought the budget was up to £600, but not over?
