want to fit a front rack to a free ranger, it has mudguard eyes and a bolt hole only at the rear of the crown, does anyone know what would fit it. It will be to carry either a couple of light front panniers with bulky but lightweight stuff in them for a tour with the family or a dry bag if i can fit some kid of rack with a top platform.
thanks in advance
given the mounts quite limited options.
you could try a traditional style blackburn / mpart style front rack, but the top mount would need to go under the fork and attach at the rear and that will loose you some tyre clearance:
or something like:

I've got a flat front rack (Metro Porteur) that mounts to the mudguard eyes and front of the headtube. I'm sure you could fix it to the back with a longer centre bracket that zigzagged under the fork crown. The BLB, Minora and other front racks mount like this. Or you could use a Wald basket with legs fixed to the mudguard eyelets and rear edge fixed to the handlebars.

Old Man Mountain used to be the answer to all rack woes.
