OK, I've got a santa cruz chameleon, with 38 and 26 chainrings. I called up santa cruz, and asked them which mech would be best for the chameleon, and they told me to get this one.

However, as you can see, it does not work. The picture shows how the actual metally bit is touching the frame, even though its in the outer ring. So when it comes down and in for the smaller ring, its just not going to happen.

I went down to my LBS and they were very helpful, and tried out this mech

Which also did not work, for the same reason.

I've been recommended a dedicated double mech, such as sram double x, or shimano saint something something?

Will this work? And I already have shimano XT shifters, so would a sram mech work anyway?

I use an XT conventional mech on mine, fits fine. Move it up a bit?

Wont it be too high? The black lines on the orange sticker are where the teeth are meant to be.

Yeah, but that sticker is supposed to line up with a 44T outer ring.

Yes, youre all right, cheers.

Had a trained mechanic and a guy whos been tinkering with bikes since before I was born, tell me it wouldnt work. And they both had it right in front of them as well.
