You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Obviously got to much time on my hands lately, asking this and other silly questions.
is there a reason behind it, or is it just what fits best on the frame, cable runs, bottle cages etc...
Traditional = high band. Works great if you have a hardtail and a normal seattube running from the BB to the seat.
Low band = mainly for full sus frames where you don't have a seattube in a useful place.
Ok makes sense, thx for that.
High bands only on my Solaris & Rocket.
Top pulls/low bands just don't fit.
Which I found out to my cost...
Still, I'll just have to get a new Soul....
Single pivots often have swingarm where you want the clamp so you use a low band one. (Eg sc superlight). Or just something daft like a bottle boss in the way. (yes YOU specialized 👿 )
IME high mounts are better if you can get one to fit: they seem to go longer before they get sloppy/rattly at the pivots, and seem more resistant to clogging up with mud and not changing into smallest ring than low mount ones.
