Would an 11-speed Shimano side swing front mech be OK for a 10 speed chain & chainset?*
I know an 11-speed chainset will work OK with a 10-speed chain & front mech as I'm already running that on another bike, but I'm not sure if an 11-speed mech might have a narrower range of motion or not like the wider 10 speed chain?

Thanks. 🙂

*Edit: or might it be better to run an 11-speed front mech & chainset, but with a 10-speed chain?

There is an difference in external width between 10 and 11 speed, but its pretty small.

Front mechs are a lot less fussy of perfect set up the rear mechs though. Range of motion will be the same so it should shift fine but it might have a slightly narrower cage which means the chain rubs a bit more when you at either end of the cassette at the back.

Thanks. I'm asking since Shimano don't seem to do any 10-speed high band, side swing front mechs, but do an 11-speed SLX one.
