Front Boost QR?

I am losing track of 'standards'....

I note Alpkit have a reasonably priced boost qr rigid fork - ideal for cheaply turning a hardtail mtb into a non suspended tool.

So, assume that to run normal boost 110mm x 15 hub wheel in a boost qr fork, you would require a hub axle adapter (boost 15mm > boost 9mm) and also a decent boost qr skewer such as DT RWS?

Thanks - a tad confused.

Why? As in, why not just boost with a 110x15 axle?

also noticed those frontier v1 forks about an hour ago. would do a bargain build I'm making for a mate, but boost qr makes it much more complicated than it needs to be and likely cost as much as a completely suitable fork.

Those Frontier forks are normal 15mm boost as far as I know.  Does boost QR mean a non threaded fork end and the use of a boost axle with a nut on one side and QR lever on the other? That’s what I have on my GSD…

@gowerboy Not necessarily. You can get 141mm wide rear Boost QRs (which has the same hub shell width as 148x12 Boost).

Never heard of such a thing on the front though.

You should just need a Boost hub with that brand’s QR adaptors - if just end caps, they aren’t specific to 100/110mm - the hub shell itself makes it 100 or 100mm, and the adaptors make each size work with thru-axles or QRs.

Having said that, I’d avoid like the plague and get the 110x15 version.

@gowerboy the GSD has a standard 15mm thu axle with an expander on it to hild in place. It's the suntour

I'd be more worried about the AC on those forks if you're replacing suspension forks.

My GSD doesn’t.  It is the Gen1 with rigid forks.

@sillyoldman is right, but if you have a budget boost front hub you may not be able to find conversion caps.

The other option is generic inserts like the below, which fit into any 15mm front hub (boost or non-boost) and space it down to QR

The axle to crown on those should be fine to replace a 100mm travel 29er fork, may be a 120mm at a push. I think it is 480mm or so.
