I’m tying to plan a route to include Baslow Curbar and Froggat edges. I understand Curbar is a permitted bridleway but not sure if Froggat down to Nether Padley is ok to ride. Any local knowledge on this please and any suggestions to extend the route would be appreciated. I have a route from Chatsworth which takes in Bakewell, Rowsley and Beeley but fancy a different route.

Yes, it's part of the "classic" Eastern Moors Loop.

@reluctantwrinkly I don't think there's a bridal way down to Nether Padley, is that where your planning on starting? This is the route I'd recommend if you want to keep everything legit www.strava.com/activities/6817481881/ Drop me a PM if you need to start/finish in Nether Padley.

You could add down from Stoney to Calver, left up Curbar Gap, right over Curbar, through the gate and then fast downhill to Baslow and back to Calver by road.

Alternatively start at Froggatt, across the top and right when you hit the road for 50yds then left over Curbar and as above. Then start the Quarry Trail from Calver.

From the a625 near the grouse inn to nether padley? It’s all fp and I’ve never ridden in there but I’m sure people do. Mostly though folks would head to longshaw from curbar/froggatt edge. Nice cuppa etc. depending on time of day and how busy it is one might be tempted to cross the road to padley gorge and take in some tech to the bottom. Or roll down the road if you prefer

The Sheffield moor route looks like it would suit.I can pick parts out to bring me back to Baslow, I’m starting from Chatsworth. The section I was referring to is from the stone circle on Froggat edge down to the A625 at the bend just before the parking spot.It shows as a footpath on the map but so does Curbar which is a permitted bridleway

Yes it's permissive BW all the way along Curber and Froggatt edges.

That's permissive bridleway all the way from Curbar Gap to the A625. There's nothing legal from there down to Padley though, unless you go up past the Grouse and through Longshaw to Longshaw Lodge, then down the B6251

Thanks slowoldman, that’s what I needed to know, I will make up a loop to include all 3 edges. I walked part of it the other day and it looked like fun.

Perhaps I should have been a bit clearer with my question, Nether Padley was the general direction of travel, not the destination . Thanks all for your input.

For the return loop you can head up the BW opposite the Grouse, cuppa at Longshaw and then back the junction at A625/B6054.

From there a short bit of road on the B6054 to Barbrook Bridge, then a bit of cheeky (but often ridden without issues) track to link back up with the permissive trails past Barbrook reservoir itself. Across the road (A621) by Ramsley Lodge. From there it’s mostly quiet back roads to Chatsworth though there are short parts of BW which are pleasant enough with a short diversion.

There's superb cheeky all over there.
On top of Burbage rocks is great after a lil bit.
White edge is fantastic, ride it from the Longshaw side.
There's that bit of woods above Baslow where you turn left off the bridleway, down the steps and go right, then spank it through the trees, great fun.
& from near the start of Froggat edge opposite on the road there's a fp with a gate, carry your bike down some steps then follow your nose all the way down to the Church at Grindleford, cracking technical decsent or you can also get into it from the NT carpark that you access a bit further on, on the road, just cycle through the grass at the bottom of the carpark.
I've done a figure 8, climb over to Lady Cannings on Longshaw and Houndkirk Moor, then burbage rocks, then white edge, then back along curbar and Froggat.

Just finished a good ride, grind up to Baslow edge from Baslow, along the edges to Froggat and then back to Stony Middleton, Eyam, up the Black Harry trail and then down Coombs Dale which has been surfaced with loads of loose rock. Up here again in September so will explore more of the routes suggested then. Thanks all.
