Yes, I agree. In many ways the O2 shock suits me very well. I like the simplicity. Set the sag, wind the rebound all the way to the slowest, then you just have 4 levels of compression damping to play with and I find them all useful. Having said that, I spend the vast majority of the time in the middle two settings; only using 1 for road sections and 4 for long descents with no pedalling. So, it should be possible to set the CC up to suit and take advantage of the better rebound daping. At least if I do buy a CC I've still got the O2 for when it breaks 🙂

Still need to put the chain on, shorten the rear brake hose and fettle. That'll have to wait though, can't remember who borrowed my chain splitter and have run out of olives and barb thingies!

Very nice. I really like the mercury finish. Is the gold/ orange seat clamp by design? It works well as a hint of colour.

I've been wondering if I should get one to do my 26in parts justice. They just won't shine on a BFe 275!!!

Yeah, got the orange Hope seat clamp to go with the orange highlights on the decals. Thinking about getting the adjuster on my forks re-anodised orange too!

Yeah, thanks. I got them TFTuned and got some new decals made up for them, silver and orange, naturally, whilst waiting for the frame.

Bit of an update on mine. the HLR McQueens went back in the end, they packed up on first day in the Alps and Im now on new Pikes.

The O2 shock got swapped out for a new Cane Creek inline and feels much better, the rebound was just to fast on the O2 even at slowest setting. Guys a Cotic did a quick swap for me when I was in the area.

Oh and Ive had a Solaris max delivered today 😉

So have now had a couple of rides on this and have to say I love it.  It descends so quickly and holds speed. Despite being longer than the bike it replaced it feels more agile and it climbs way better than you would think.

The Yari forks are creaking like an old door so they are going to be replaced with Mattoc Pros and sent off for warranty.

It's not Friday, but I wanted to join the Cotic love in. Picked up frame and wheels from the classifieds here and built up the rest of it with bits off of another bike.

Currently got a 27 plus front wheel as the forks are boost, but I'll be swapping that out for a normal 27.5 wheel when I've got adaptors for the hub. Going to get some wider bars for it too so I've left the cables a little bit longer.

First ride last night and nothing fell off (including me) so that's a great start.

Got my first ride in this morning on my new SolarisMAX. An hour and a half of my local single-track, steep and technical, sub-tropical 'jungle.'

I sold a dual suspension rig and am retiring (for now) my carbon Highball, taking a punt on this as a do-it-all.

Pleased with the ability to take dually lines i'd avoid on my Highball. It just hammered through the rocks and roots.

Impressed with the technical climbing - better than i'd feared, so that's a relief.

A bit concerned by the Trace 36 forks... they've got a horrific top out clunk which i'm really hoping is going to go away somehow!

Sadly the early hours of a friday 3 weeks ago was some lowlife's Cotic day as they stole my beloved mk1 Solaris among a haul of mine and my families bikes 😢

A bit of good old thread revival 😎

With lockdown etc I’d imagine there has been some good Cotic builds and new bikes delivered, etc so thought it would be good to see them if anyone wants to add to the thread.

Mine have all been rebuilt reasonably recently - the Roadrat and Soul during lockdown, and the BFe a couple of years back. The Soul in particular I'm enjoying being back in a light(ish - 25lbs) XC build:

I saw on the latest episode of Dialed (Fox YouTube series for those that don’t know) that Jordie Lunn is riding a Cotic. Cool to see a fella that probably has the pick of any frame he wants, chose a cotic. Maybe he can post up a picture of his on here 😀

Don't think that will happen, sadly - Jordie passed away last year.

Whoops, I meant Fox suspension guru Jordie Cortes. I’ve been up since 3am and clearly hadn’t had enough coffee when I posted that.

RIP Jordie Lunn.

Here's the most recent, built up at the start of May.

And the other one, which I don't think is on this thread, been riding it about 18 months.

Fox suspension guru Jordie Cortes

He bought that as a standard private sale, not a industry favour or anything. And it happened in parallel to Cotic starting to offer Fox shocks... not connected... that happened due to Chris @ downtime podcast loving his.

Anyway, it’s a straight up “buy the bike I want” build… which gave everyone at Cotic a warm glow.

Will hopefully be building mine up this weekend so see you next week

Such a tease. What are you getting?

That’s great.
I’ve just sold my Capra and will be saving that money to get a bfe max when they’re back in stock, as the one bike I really regret selling is my longshot bfe.

Bought this in the recent clearout. Got some 26" parts hanging around so will be a racked up rough road tourer... maybe. Or it may just live in its box.

No new lockdown build for me (although a mate is waiting on a new SolarisMAX which will be passing through my garage) so took the opportunity to refresh the bearings in my Mk2 Rocket, which obviously took precedence over weeding the path or painting the fence. Have also included a pic of my Soul that I've not posted here yet even though it's a year old.

Front triangle

Swingarm

Rebuilt

Soul on Haigh Viaduct

I went for the dark blue one. Size medium. Dallied with a large but a friend has one and it’s ok stood up but a bit long sitting down.

It’s to replace my blue mk1 which had slowly evolved to have a slackset, 120mm fork, wider bars etc so all the bits are (in theory) getting transferred across. That said, I’ve already gone for a new wider front wheel to go with some big fast tyres and a rear may follow, which seems like a good time to go 12s and a longer dropper post would be nice, so we’ll see how much changes!

The goal is the same as the old one, light and comfy enough to ride all day, fun enough to enjoy on steep and rough stuff.

Nice one Swanny853 - how tall are you?

I’m 5’9.5”. The .5 seems to matter for bike sizing as I toe the line between medium and large with most brands. I’m a little short on leg for my height, but apparently pedal like I’ve got longer legs (at least according to anyone who gets on my bikes).

The large would probably have been ok for lots of really nasty terrain but it was too stretched for a long day to be comfy.

The flareMax, which I think was slightly shorter, I could easily have ridden in either size.
