This was locked up outside my kids school today

There's impressive use of an MX seat & a rear rack

But why has he added a new chainring?

Nah, that's definitely an R&D test mule. What you are actually looking at is the 2023 Kenovo. Chainless is the futurz.

Its the liberal use of gold that caught my eye. Especially the rims and mid frame support; they even match the ratchet strap buckle and fork top caps....

Hopefully the gold chainrings are in the post 🙂

Shame it didn't extend to Kashima though - that thing must weigh as much as a small star but the forks have barely moved.

Oh and I give in, what is going on with the downtube? Looks like they've strapped a length of box section aluminium to it.

That's fantastic. I'm only disappointed that the owner has not rotated the NDS crank by 180 degrees.

Graphic equalizer for the ICE system (or maybe OBE system) 😀

Personally I don't think thats a bad effort!  slightly worried by the potential for front travel to allow tyre impact with the down'scaffold' but I i've seen worse

Looks like a whopping 38mm suspension travel. Getting into Pace territory there.

Some people should never be let near a spanner velcro strapping.

And what's in the pouch about to get hole-punched when the rear suspension compresses?

I assumed it was a bump stop

I've just come to the conclusion that the lack of chain is likely to be because it's set up as a "twist and go" electric powered bike, rather than a pedelec

It’s the inverter that drives the 3 phase motor in the hub.

Yep it’s as legal as a leccy scooter that’s not been hired.

100% ?

I'm assuming if it's emotorbike then it should have reg plate, MOT, driver is licensed, insurance, tax etc.

It may be a pedalec/eBike but without chain and I can't see a crank sensor, it looks like emotorbike.

Anyway, I think you are just fishing with Teej.

Well I'm impressed that the youth of today have not lost the ability to build a dangerous contraption just to go fast on, and also fulfil the essential criteria of telling future teenagers how they built their own er..dangerous contraption, this is what shed's were invented for.

Update

Saw it again being ridden by a young mum- her son was being taken to school on it, he was sitting in front of her, but there's now an extra aluminium battery? On the seat so he was kind of astride that

I'm not sure if dancing riding that in the rain either

Honestly, I'm guessing it could be their only way to get to school, luckily here in MK there's miles of segregated cycleways.

Well, looking at how steep the front is and how high the saddle is at least her kid will cushion her fall when she inevitably catapults over the bars.

That's the type of pouch normally used for battery packs, y'know the type that often come with Chinese lights, 4x lithium 18650's usually. What could possibly go wrong...

Aw, look at the teeny, tiny rotor on the front wheel. It's so cute!

I'm sure she would use the compulsory Range Rover evoke instead if she had the means, the police will eventually deal with the obvious health and safety issue, a call to the school would speed that up.

Then there is the crime against engineering aesthetics, the Rhubarb and Custard shed invention is not a good look for a young mum.

Better than the dozens of cars that are usually driven/parked on double yellows and pavements during the school run IMO

Apologies if that sounded aimed at young mums, the owner would appear to be one just.

The Rhubarb and Custard shed invention is not a good look for any adult...I thought it was a kids project.
