Would you trust one of those suction bike racks?
Are they even legal as there is no physical connection between the car and rack other than a vacuum and a seal?
Will it bugger up your roof as it doesn't mount on any load bearing points on the car?
Would you trust one of those suction bike racks?
Not on your nelly!
Me too.
If it came adrift it could screw your car, your bike, your insurance and whoever it hit. You'd also get up to 9 points for an insecure load.
I'd want to see some hooks and bolts holding it down.

tis the devil I tells ya, next we'll be having wheels with no tubes in them... 😆

If air pressure wasn't "physical", then the car wouldn't be on the road in the first place.
Think they're a nice solution myself, and they're easily removed when not using them

One of the future mags reviewed the seasucker and said "Pros: You don't have to buy expensive roof bars". THE RACK IS £250 AND IT HOLDS ONE BIKE FFS! SKHULIUHFSNL!1!!
£50 for a base layer 😯
But I do like the look of the suction bike racks, pity the price is so high.

Yeah, but it relies on a perfect seal against a surface that can flex because it isn’t a load bearing point.
I’m sure that it works perfectly… but I’m not sure that I’d be happy with it on the top of my car at speed in a cross wind.
BAck in the 80's my dad had a set of suction cup things for the roof to carry ladders and the like.
Worked a treat.
There's thousands of these Seasucker racks already in use in the UK. If there was something inherently unsafe about them we'd already know it.
OK. I stand corrected.
That and their other use is lifting up tons of glass into buildings, if they can hold a ton of glass, then a 30lb bike in a crosswind should be a doddle!
I was actually considering those hornet ones for the Midget, but I think a boot rack would be a better solution.
Ah, but the ton of glass if flat, rigid, clean and has been set up by professionals. The roof of my car is curved, flexible, filthy and owned by an idiot.
