Just fitted a brand new xd driver to my pro 2 Evo rear hub with the intention of going 1x11. Got the cassette fitted. Tightened until it is flush with the Freehub body stops. Out the frame it spins well and independent from the axle. As soon as I fit it to the bike and whilst still in the workstand, i can't back pedal and pedalling forward is very tight. On removing the cassette the drive side 12mm hub adaptor is jammed into the cassette and needs to be chapped out.

Am i screwing it on too far? Given the length of the splines i am thinking it must be screwed on until the cassette hits home of the freehub. If I don't the the 10t cog causes the chain to contact the frame.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I think you forgot the little washer that slides on the axle

Did you remember the axle spacer behind the free hub on reassembly? I think that can cause those issues.

Possibly spacer +1

Also check seal between freehub and body - sometimes they can be a bugger to seat neatly.

And the end cap- that should come off before you try and take the cassette off for XD shouldn't it?

Possibly freehub seal +2, I'd just thought of that!

Did you fit the new XD endcap? ( I think Pro 2s need a new endcap for an XD freehub off the top of my head, you remove the endcap, install the cassette to ensure the tool fully engages the splines then refit the endcap.

Cassette should be tight, 40NM off the top of my head

There should be a 2mm spacer between the freehub and drive side hub bearing on the axle, it might be stuck to the old freehub or fell off?

Freehub seal will bind if not clicked into place

I'll place my bet on the spacer not being fitted as mentioned by those above. 😃

End cap for sure - I had this a few weeks ago and needed an XD specific one. Also remember to fit it after installing the cassette.

Yep definitely never bought a new end cap. Kit from crc came with a qr cap which is still in the bag, did wonder about that. Spacer must still be in the hub as it never came off. Sounds as if I have the wrong end cap given the marking on the current one. I'll double check the spacer in the morning. Thanks very much lads 👌
