Does anyone know where I can get some free MTB photos that I can use in some promotional literature for some friends who are just setting up a bunk house in Wales for groups of riders to stay at?
Ask any sports photographer, and they might ask their name/logo in corner of the photo (or on the material somewhere).
try morgueFile.com although you'll have to check terms of use yourself
Photos shouldn't be free, what's wrong with paying for them?
Cheers. Would pay for them in the future, but they haven't got much money at the moment so my time and the photos need to be free.

Why shouldn't they be free? I'm sure some (or a lot of) ammature photgraphers would happily have their work published for free with credit given.
I used to do some DJ'ing and there was a similar vein of thought, employers thought you should work for free/beer as all you're doing it pressing play, Dave from Daves Mobile Disco thought every DJ should be paid £000's for a couple of hours work. Anyone in the middle just doing it for fun get's it in the ear form both directions for expecting some money to cover buying music form the organisers and the 'profesionals'* who believe you're undercutting them (I prefer to think of it as market forces and they charged too much).
*If ever the was a career where you had to buy yourself a job DJ'ing is it, mobile disco's can be cheeper to pay for than hiring the kit alone from teralec!
If your time is free, take some yourself?
Or go somewhere like shutter stock etc to get some cheap?

There's free stock libraries out there, but you really do get what you pay for.
To expect anything better is a bit cheeky though tbh. It's kinda like walking into your LBS and asking for free bits n bobs.
Get your camera out and go for a ride near the bunk house with that camera?
Do a creative commons licence search on flickr for 'mountain biking' or similar and see what comes up - you'll need to check what conditions have been specified by the photogrpaher as well.

This, generally - though you might get lucky.
Should you not be getting some pictures of mountain biking in/around the actual location though? Bit misleading otherwise I would have thought - I'd expect to see the actual place.
In which case either get your own camera out, find a mate who's into photography but not pro, or pay a professional.
Will we be able to stay at the bunkhouse for free if we don't have much money btw? 🙂
where in Wales?, local council / tourism dept will have a stock, sure they will provide access to a new start up company
You're welcome to use any from the dozens of albums [url=
although it would be nice if you gave us a wee mention.
Be aware they're all taken in the Alps, so you might want to choose some non-descript forest shots!
There's a variety of photos on Wikimedia Commons. Mostly under some sort of Creative Commons licence: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Mountain_biking
Here you go.
Disclaimer; this is a conglomeration of two photos, neither of which belongs to me. Use them for financial gain at your peril.
Honestly though, why TF would your friends expect people to work for them for free? Is Facebook going to give them free ads because they don't have much money? Are the rented accomodation websites and mags going to list them for free? Is their web designer doing it for a few pints?
As has been said, you will very much get what you pay for (or not).
Edited 'cos I can't be bothered.
I'm sure someone has some snaps of riding in Wales that would do the job just fine without making a song and dance about it.
I'll swap mine for a stay in the bunkhouse http://www.flickr.com/photos/rocketdog/
check out Don Simon's website / photos, all free 🙂
Sorry, can't help myself...
They should pay for them the tight sods.

So they can get more free work?
What do you do? Will you come over and do it for free for me. I swear I'll give you credit and you'll get lots of exposure as the bloke who does free work, leading to... More free work!
