Looking to rent a gite somewhere - not too far into France....just far enough to ensure a bit of decent weather....

Alps is too far on this occasion so thinking some forestry akin to Sherwood / Cannock where we can see some family fun and also a couple of early morning man-rides 😉

Anyone been anywhere that warrants a recommendation?

(Dordogne is prob a touch too far too)

Thanks

The Vosges are about 4-5 hours from Calais, if you go through Luxembourg. There is non-toll motorway pretty much all the way. It's a lot like Wales, hilly / small mountains and plenty of signed and not signed routes. We stayed at Gerardmer last year and had an awesome time - town big enough for family stuff, a lake, shops, sunshine, mountains, chair lift (small), good bus service around, a luge - what's not to like!

We stayed in lovely farmhouse just south of the Foret-du-bercy. Nice riding in the Forest. Didn't find anything too tech but some good trails. It was a bit middle of nowhere so not sure what the family would do though.
