There doesn't seem to be a specific frame protection kit from Invisframe, Ride Wrap etc. for the Sonder Camino. I wondered if anyone has successfully used a generic kit (from the same brands or others) on a Camino?
I just bought some helitape from eBay, then measured and cut my own bits.
I didn't do a great deal - top of top tube, underside of down tube and the drive side chain stay.
It was pretty easy. I heated the frame & the tape with a hairdryer, cut nice smooth rads on the ends of the helitape to stop getting catchy edges and used some water on the frame to allow me to adjust the position before squeegeeing the water out.
I was surprised there weren't any specific kits.
I looked last year but didn't find any. Then reasoned that people probably don't think it's worth spending 20% of the cost of the frame on stick backed plastic for it.
I just put some of that 3M rubber tape on the chain stay and half the down tube.
Just embrace the scars
as in the PSA thread, Brink have a load of DyedBro protection on sale, inc kits for gravel bikes
I also bought some eBay helitape. As mine's a Ti frame, I've only put a few strips where frame bag straps go rather than doing the whole frame.
I used a generic kit from, erm, Bike Shield according to the package, sportscover.se, but not direct from them. Or rather the left over bits from it after doing parts of a Cotic. It seems to work fine, but I'm not fussy and mostly my bikes carry a patina of battle scars. Mostly I just did the top tube and a few cable rub areas.
Shack Wrap in Bury did my Camino Al a few years ago so they will have the pattern.
I live only 10 miles from them so for me it made sence.
I got a sheet of invisiframe and made a kit for my child no1's Vitus 20+ still looks good a year in. Perfect for child no2.
Id suggest that but it took a few evenings. I think a decent masking tape would be better than paper templates.
