I've got an old bike that is a little rusty, I've slowly been restoring it but the frame has bits of the old paint work flaking off, is rusty in those spots and I want to protect it.

Has anyone had a frame shot blasted & Powder coated (or stripped and painted) in/near Bristol? If so, could you let me know where, how much you paid (inc forks) and what the quality of the finish was like?

I really want to keep the costs down as the bike's not worth much in moneys.

Thanks!

check out Argos cycles in Bristol. they are your best bet in Bristol for bicycle related stripping/painting. a longstanding company with a great track record.
all prices etc are on the website.
alternatively there's a motorcycle powdercoaters near temple meads which also do mtb's but i'm not sure of for how much.

Griff's - had two done and they were both excellent..... Actually finding the unit is a logic test in itself, but once inside it's a cool place just to poke around....

This lot did my Thorn: http://www.bristolmotorcyclepowdercoating.co.uk/

Nice job, masked all threads, owner is a cyclist. Can't remember the cost so give 'em a ring. There's a signwriting place nearby on the Bath road that can do replacement transfers - I think Argos use them.

I used them for my Breezer. The attention to detail is superb but the finish is very fragile. I wouldn't use them again.

I used griffs motor works too. Very good, I think a FS frame was £45-odd.
Be interested to know what forks cost.

ABC powder coaters in Nailsea used to do the of frame. They're not a specialist though and you need to mask all your own threads.

The last frame I had done was *gulp* 10 years ago, so they may not even do it anymore.
