Why oh why would you have a frame mounted socket spanner?? am I missing something???
To undo your track bolts if you have a puncture
And because its clearly a bottle opener.
As above, it's a fixie thing.
And makes sense, I have to carry round one of those 99p bone spanners because I'm too cheap to get a nice one that bolts/clips to a bottle cage.

My mate had to be rescued by his wife because he got a puncture, couldn't get the back wheel off as it needed a spanner to remove and we couldn't patch the tube without getting it off.
He's given up on single speed now.
Many thanks for the clarification, the flames are obviously to make your bike go faster..............

he needs to know the trick of just removing one side of the tyre and then pulling the tube to patch / getting finger in to check tyre.
Handy for Brompton's as well as fixies
There are inner tubes that can be fitted without removing the wheel.
It’s quite a good idea for e-bike kits as some use bolts on the axles too.
Though, you’d probably require two spanners to ensure the bolts are nipped up tight.
I've got a Surly Jethro Tule for the same tasks, (has a bottle opener natch) which is even more hipster than having one bolted to the frame.
Allways carried a spare 15mm spanner for my fixie when I had it.
I just bought a spanner for a couple of quid, drilled some holes for bottle bosses and then welded on an old 1/4" hex socket to make it into a poor-man's multi tool...

Does the job ok.
That multi tool is awesome!
Love the multitool but what tool do you use to unbolt the tool from the frame so you can use it?
I also have a Jethro Tool won at Mach ssuk (for giving someone a tube). Great idea but don't think I've ever found it had enough leverage to be useful for wheel nuts (but plenty of leverage for bottles)

That's an old photo, it's held on with two knurled thumb screws now for tool free access.
Have one of these on the road going fixie, wing bolts so easily accessible.
15mm spanner 5mm Allen bottle opener and lock ring tool.
But means you can’t use the only set of bosses for a bottle cage.
Edit - idea is ruined by needing a 10mmspanner for the chain tug… 🙁
Edit 2 - mine is the previous version but in finding images fit this thread I’ve only just twigged it may have a 10mm ‘spanner hole’ in the middle! Win!
I like the home brew version above but what stops the multi tool ends falling out when pulling wicked fixie skids etc?
I always carry a spanner for wheel removal. There are much nicer alternatives than that monstrosity. One is a a cut down ring spanner and the other is the pdq tyre lever spanner.

The holder is stepped so they're retained, you have to un-bolt it to push the bits out the back.
