So I'd like to scratch the CX/Gravel/Adventure itch properly having tried to reverse engineer one from 29er frames over the years.

A recently acquired pair of brifters and matching SRAM rear mech have gotten me over the last of the hurdles ... well almost the last .....

I appreciate that CX and Gravel/Adventure are very different and I'm not wedded to either. I guess despite my love of fat tyres I'd be looking 35-40mm tyres clearance on 29er wheels to reduce the risk of too much cross over with other builds.

So ..... Frame and forks .... Any good suggestions. I'm not looking to spend a huge sum of money, maybe £400 tops as I would still need to factor in some callipers in the correct configuration.

Sizing wise probably looking L to XL or 58 to 60? I don't really understand not MTB sizing ........

Full reccomend-you-own style but I'm really happy with my Fearless Vulture.

Not many frames left through from what I can gather so need to be quick. Very adaptable, sensible geometry, fits big tires, and it looks cool. Was reviewed on here too I think -

Sadly I’ve been through the Fearless loop. I need a size up from the current range / I’m too big 😔

Cotic Escapade?

It's a recommend what you've got, but mine is the best bike I've owned and has been faultless for commuting /touring /Glentress red (the bike survived fine. My wrists however...)

Whytes are big/ long frames - Friston etc
Just got a Saxon Cross frame s/h which is proving good - gone 650b to make it different
Don’t think they do frame only new
NS Rag + occasionally cheap but you missed the Christmas deals at CRC on 2019 frames

I liked the frame of the On-One Space Chicken FreeRanger, but hated the colours/branding. I ordered a Carbonda CFR696 (seemingly the same frame) for £450 (including a more sedate paint job) delivered from China.

The Fearless Vulture is no more, apparently - they've pretty much sold out, and a new frame is on the way. Might well be an XL size this time around, worth dropping Tim an email.

There’s a very nice Salsa Vaya frameset on eBay at the moment. Size 57cm up to 6’1” might suit they have great tyre clearance, mine runs up to 700c x 50 without mudguards

My large Camino Al frame & fork will probably be up for sale next week if that’d be of interest.  Only bought it last year, but I like it so much, I’ve just treated myself to a Camino Ti frame. Once the parts have been swapped over, I’ll be putting on eBay (unless it sells on here first;)

Thanks for the thought Bowglie but I think I’d be looking at the XL.

I've got an old arkose frame that's going to be for sale soon, about 2012/13 vintage, in XL/60cm. Just needs a clean up to prep for selling. Good tyre clearance, was running 38mm g-ones with guards just fine (and the g-ones measured 41mm knob-to knob). Frame is QR.

I was running a kinesis fork with it that's currently in the classifieds....
