I've tried a drop bar bike a number of times and just really don't like them so I'm looking to build up a flat bar version

Any suggestion on frames that I could use? I've currently got a Calibre Dark Peak in a small, but I've put the flat bars on it and the reach seems a little short so I'm guessing I'll have to go up to a medium to get a decent reach.

Any ideas on what's out there at the minute? I've had a look at Chain reaction and PlanetX but don't really see much on there at the mo

I'd like to build something up pretty light so that I can still enjoy some quickish road blasts but would also appreciate being able to fit some bigger volume tyres so I can take it on to the fire roads when the mood takes

Cheers

I've got a medium boardman hybrid that's a nice frame with carbon forks nice and light and currently fitted with 35mm tyres and guards. Personally I'm not sure I like the quick handling of the front of the bike but it makes a good flatbar on/off road bike.im not sure if you can buy framesets though

I'm debating getting a flatbar touring type of frameset or a skinny 29er like an inbred or something so it feels more like an mtb than a road bike

My PX London Road was great to ride with a flat.

Boardman frame of ebay I reckon. The hybrid and CX frames look to have very similar geometry

Watching with interest! I like the giant fastroad but only takes a 32c tyre

Like Firestarter I have a boardman hybrid with the carbon forks which I built with random leftover mtb parts. It's really bloody good, I always had an idea that I'd upgrade it but I've never found a reason to. You can't buy framesets but you can buy a whole used bike for the price of most frames.
