Personally i'd far ride a steel frame than scandium or aluminium, I own a scandium Salsa Juan Solo and it's excellent fun but it beats the crap the crap out of you, same with the aluminium frame - Steel everytime for me (apart from titanium) and it'll be strong as ****.
Clinc match the scandal price and I will 😉
Is it better to have a more springy frame or I would I be better spending the £200 towards better forks ( ie scandal with sids or salsa with recons
Personally Scandal with Rebas. 😉
The geo on the Scandal is sorted.
From musings on here, the alloy stiff - steel comfy rule blurrs a bit with bigger wheels. Personally the Salsa wins hands down for me. My 29er life began with a steel Inbred. I was happy enough with this, but heart ruled head (& wallet) & I bought a SIR9. It's like a short travel FS compared to the Inbred, but it was 6x the price. It's simply ace. I've never felt so at home on a bike as I do on my Niner. Steel just works for me. Get the Salsa, & some steel forks too.

Don't think there is much to beat the OnOne for the cash you pay, and as has been said before, it is the most steel-like aluminium frame you will find.
I have Reba's on mine and love it.

In the spirit of STW, get a Cotic! The Solaris looks lovely.
