So I'm replacing the bearings on my Blur LT.
I have the bearing presses to get the bearings out but the axles are stuck solid.
I reckon a bit of heat will get things moving.
Can anyone recommend me a decent heat gun?
Just use a hair dryer, dont get it too hot and melt the paint/frame.
Have you tired some releasing fluid yet ?
Does "proper" releasing fluid really make a huge difference over GT85?
No harm in giving a hair dryer a try I suppose!
A pan of boiling water's one of the best ways i've come across, not much chance of overdoing it and taking the paint off.
GT85's a pretty effective penetrating fluid, not quite as good as plusgas but still very good.
A proper DIY heat gun would do the job, but, will be a little bit like using a piledriver to put in a nail. Don't get it wrong, you will regret it. And it'll be very easy to get it wrong.
Fair do's NW.
Hairdryer plus big hammer for first attempt then.
Boiling water X2.
You want a flash of heat rather than a gradual build up, and douse the parts in penetrating oil the night before not 5 minutes before.
