I may give my van to the SO and to get it correct for her weight, was wondering if removing the spring in the right hand lower could be a good idea?
Anyone done that? For how long? Did you have any trouble at some point?

The right hand leg of Fox forks where the damper is.

The actual spring is in the LH leg.

You can't run the fork without either of them.

Yes but you have a spring in each leg, this is why I ask, is there any use of the RHS spring?

The only way to alter it is to buy a softer spring for the LH leg, the RH leg is the damper which controls the rebound/compression of the spring in the LH. If you mess around with that and are unsure of what you are doing you could cause some expensive damage/injury!
Try talking to the guys at Mojo suspension, they should be able to work out what you need, but you will probably have to spend some money on the spring.

Why would you do that?

No, only one spring, in LH leg ... damper (not a spring) in the RH leg

You can get a softer spring for the LH leg for £15

I'd try this first. Spring weights can be found in the Fox owners manual (available online if you've not got one).

As willchaynes mentioned, if you want the fork tuning further you can get Mojo or TF Tuned to set it up specifically for the weight & riding style of your SO.

I've got a "blue" medium weight spring spare if it'd help. Suits Vanilla 125 - same spring works in 100 and 80mm modes.

So the SO can use it 😉
I am on the next to softer spring and the fork is on the edge of not soft enough. So I fear the softer one would be too hard for the SO. So I was thinking of removing the spring in the damper leg and put jut one spring on the left hand side.

I've done an oil change and seal replacement on a 2007 Vanilla.
There is NO SPRING in the RHS / damping leg

Vanillas and Floats are the same apart from the spring medium contained within the LHS leg.

Looking at the fox service guide there is a spring which is part of the damping assembly, but its not used as the actual spring medium. This is the same for the air or coil spring 32s.

Certainly on the 2007 Vanilla and my 2008 Float 32 RLC this spring is not present, so it may be an older design of damper assembly.
